Your Opportunity

Stantec has an opportunity for an intermediate Geochemist with a strong hydrogeology background to join our team. The position can be based in any of our southeast region locations. The ideal candidate is someone that can work well in a multi-disciplinary team and with the autonomy to reliably deliver solid results in a timely fashion. You will be responsible for contributing to the hydrogeology and geochemistry program, with a primary focus on groundwater remediation for the power sector.

Your Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the field and laboratory-based evaluation of in situ treatment of groundwater, and environmental activities for a variety of projects and industries

Performing key tasks to support geochemical and hydrogeological project components

Conduct geochemical evaluations through the use of geochemical modeling software and other analytical tools

Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec\'s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Program

Support general water quality evaluations for projects including data analysis and development and execution of monitoring programs

Interpret and analyze geochemical and water quality data, providing related technical support for water resource and environmental projects

Perform research as it relates to specific technical issues or projects with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice

Prepare technical reports and perform QA/QC of technical documents

Perform data analysis and data visualization through the use of technical software

Conduct and support fieldwork and laboratory investigation as needed, including treatability testing to support in situ treatment design

Execution of related proposal development and project task financial and schedule management

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Understanding of Federal water quality guidelines, legislation, regulations, licensing and permitting particularly related to the Clean Water Act and Coal Combustion Residuals Rule (CCR Rule)

Ability and willingness to travel to lead field crews, perform environmental monitoring and investigation, or participate in off-site meetings with clients and/or regulatory agencies

Fundamental understanding of project-task management

Proven ability to analyze field and technical data, perform research, demonstrate technical knowledge and problem solve

Strong organizational and communications skills. Ability to communicate solutions in writing, verbally, and graphically

Strong technical aptitude

Solid computer skills are a must including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Knowledge of contaminant transport modeling software, PHREEQC, Geochemist\'s Workbench

Knowledge of Visual Basic or R coding, three-dimensional visualization software, database software, etc.

Experience preparing environmental assessments/ impact statements and other regulatory applications

Education and Experience

Minimum of 3 years experience in consulting, geochemistry assessment of natural media and waste materials, water quality predictions, water quality modeling, and the assessment of water quality impacts.

B.Sc. in Geochemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences or an equivalent degree with a specific focus in the areas of geochemistry

Professional registration is preferred (PG or PE) but not required
