Job Description:


Develop and maintain market, product, application, and value expertise on Caterpillar and competitive product for the purposes of establishing finance lease residuals, business rules, collateral values, and current market values within assigned global market areas. Establish working relationships and communications with valuation customers and stakeholders for the purpose of strategic alignment with the overall enterprise goals

1. Participates in annual residual reviews for assigned market areas by utilizing the prescribed residual review process
2. Processes daily residual exceptions and collateral value requests from various Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation (CFSC) offices. Additionally, may process value assistance requests from Caterpillar Inc. Marketing and Product Units
3. Investigates specific markets and applications for the purposes of establishing Business Rules to be applied as factors of the standard residuals
4. Provides support and training to CFSC/CRSI subsidiaries, region offices, CBC, and Caterpillar Inc. Market and Profit Units for the purpose of establishing a basic understanding of the residual setting and value processes
5. At the direction of the Remarketing Valuations Manager, works with various Caterpillar Marketing and Product Units and CFSC Sales Support to develop new and revise existing finance marketing programs
6. Acts as a liaison with Caterpillar, Inc. business units, marketing units, and other product manufacturers in an attempt to obtain product, application, and market knowledge and pass that knowledge on to the Valuation staff
7. Travels to offices and job sites of dealers and/or customers to gather first-hand feedback, promote relationships, and gain expertise and understanding of the “real world”
8. Performs routine research utilizing various information including Caterpillar Inc. wholesale market data, CFSC historical sales data, retail transaction data gathered from dealers, customers and trade journals, machine usage statistics, product application data, and machine productivity data for the purposes of incorporating that data into the residual setting process
9. Provides timely and consistent responses to customer and stakeholder requests
10. Maintains up-to-date Caterpillar product models and ensures each model is included in the CFSC residual tables for use in the FE and CQS quoting systems
11. Participates in accomplishment of continuous improvement objectives for the department. Progress toward accomplishment of these is measured through maintenance of necessary measurements and analysis of associated data. Participates in the identification of problem areas and development of resolutions to address them
12. Understands the Harassment policy of the company and is responsible for its application in all aspects of employment

1. Advanced knowledge of and advanced ability to apply math computation skills
2. Thorough knowledge of Caterpillar products, their applications, and their markets as well as a advanced knowledge of competitors’ product lines, applications, and markets
3. Advanced knowledge of Caterpillar dealer organization and the industries served by Caterpillar dealers
4. Advanced knowledge of remarketing policies, procedures, and processes
5. Proven ability to create long-lasting relationships with dealer used equipment managers
6. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the U.S. and international used equipment marketplaces
7. Thorough understanding of commercial law and marketing techniques
8. Advanced ability to read and analyze various business reports
9. Thorough ability to apply analytical skills
10. Advanced ability to successfully organize, plan and prioritize multiple projects and complete tasks according to agreed time requirements
11. Advanced ability to communicate effectively and express ideas, concepts and needs to complete required tasks
12. Advanced ability to focus attention to details and accuracy
13. Advanced ability to create and maintain basic spreadsheets, word processing, mail merges, and presentations
14. Advanced ability to effectively present data to management
15. Advanced ability to work independently and as part of a team
16. Advanced ability to use database management software
17. Ability to drive a car or arrange for adequate transportation to and from dealerships, customer sites, etc


A 4-year college or university degree in any discipline with a minimum of 7 years exempt experience in credit, collections, sales, marketing, engineering and/or remarketing, of which 3 years must have been exempt sales experience in the equipment or finance industry is recommended. Previous international or supervisory experience may be a substitute for credit, collections, sales, marketing and/or remarketing experience. Multi-lingual skills may be required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education
